It is with great sadness that we share the news of the tragic loss of Mr. Demerious Smith.
Mr. Smith, an incredible member of the Bethany community, died in an unfortunate car accident Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, near the entrance to Blue Marsh Lake on Brownsville Road.
Mr. Smith was dedicated to the care of Bethany youth. Though he left Bethany as a dedicated direct support team member and began working with Conrad Weiser Decisions alternative education program, he continued to be a resource and mentor for many youth affiliated with Bethany.
He has been a true beacon of hope for many Bethany youth. He represented the culture of true humility and exhibited a passion of love and care for the healing journey of every human being, but especially for the wounded children we serve. He was easily relatable and a joy to converse with.
He left an impact on many lives.
Now is the time for remembrance of the amazing mark he made in the lives he touched, while supporting each other and our youth through this difficult grieving journey.
Mr. Smith’s soul will be remembered as a kind spirit of compassion, resiliency, and calmness. He always brought a sense of peace and security to those who had the fortune to be in his presence; but more than that, he blessed our lives with his words of wisdom and encouragement.
Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
